Haven’t seen the fail whale in a while, this is probably old news to loads of people, but the fail whale is gone and is replaced by a bunch of clouds, a robot, a pigeon and shell fish?

I finally get my insurance cheque; *lululululululeeesh*

The insurance industry is just one big disappointment; they truly do suck ass; screw ass actually… but my virginity or lack of is not that kind of topic I’d like to discuss over here. It’s time for celebration!

… can you maintain your day job, excel in it, be an entrepreneur at night; and maintain a social life? (I’m not even going to add post a word or two).

Apple.com online store is now offline. Exciting!

Apple Store Now Offline

With less than 10 minutes seperating us from Steve Job’s keynote, everybody is speculating what could be in store. My guess are; the cell phone that won’t be called iPhone, an iPod with better video playback capabilities, and possibly a Mac Tablet. We’ll find out in a few :)

Why Wii is going to win the console war (or Wii So Horny)

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Note: This video is probably not work safe (unless you own the damn joint).

This is a a great 3 minutes illustration on why the Wii is succeeding in the market beyond all expectations. Ask yourself if this movie would make any sense whatsoever if the couple were having sexy fun with a Playstation 3 controller or (good god, no), an XBOX 360 gamepad. Of course it’s not the first time someone comes up with way to have some fun with a console. We all remember Jane Pincarkd’s idea of fun with a PS2 controller; of course back then PS2 was sleek, stylish, and culturally engaging. I never thought I’d see the day when Nintendo held that throne, but now they do.

Nintendo succeeds because they are focued on solving the core user need, helping average people have a lot of fun rather than becoming hopelessly mired in a feature / functionality battle with historic competitors.

Suzan Wu: The Nintendo Wii - Hail to the king, baby!

So shortly after getting the trial version of opera on the Wii I went to a free adult site http://www.tiava.com to look at some photos. Yesterday I went back and… well apparently either the site maintainers are Wii enthusiasts or I’m not the only one. The site has added a “Wii friendly” interface for browsing their content. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised the adult industry seems to always know where technology is going, but I’m surprised to see it so quick. The browser hasn’t been available but for a week now

Arstech Reader: The world of adult sites is becoming Nintendo-friendly

It’s not so surprising, the adult industry are usually the first to adopt any new technology. I wouldn’t be surprised if a new form of adult gaming is designed around Wii. Of course there are other ways to stream the x rated (and the decent) content to your Wii.  Enter Media Center X

Wii Media Center X is a free multimedia server developed by Red Kawa. It allows you to stream certain types of pictures, music, videos and files from your computer (where the server running) to your Nintendo Wii. It runs on most major operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

More and more reasons to go ahead and buy a Wii. The full version of the video above can be downloaded from here (note: Rachel Gold the star of this video has an IMDB listing, this could very well be some form professional viral marketing).

“Oceans” Music Video Shot by a Phonecam!

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Original, addictive and creative is how I would describe “Oceans”, a song by former Catherine Wheel’s lead singer Rob Dickinson.

Despite all that, this song wouldn’t have made the pages of techhash if it wasn’t for the fact that it was shot entirely using a Nokia N93 phone cam. Directed by Mike Hodgkinson, it proves that a great video is all about the idea not the fancy equipment (or half a dozen half naked dancers in the background).

LG to launch a Dual Format High Definition Player

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Are you itching to buy a high definition disc player but don’t know which format to go with? Given how long HDDVD and BluRay have been on the market you’d think we’d have a definitive format. 3 Years towards their intial introduction; picking a high definition player is still one of the most confusing purchasing decisions a consumer is faced with.

Up until now.

LG has just announced it will be launching the first dual format high definition disc player at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week; although there has been no word on pricing; we don’t expect high def to come with less than a 4 digit price tag. Details should be available on Sunday.

While a dual format player will lessen the cosumer’s worry about investing in the wrong format. It won’t make it any easier for content producers. If dual format players become the norm, studios will be faced with a quandary; continue to support both formats? Or release new and catalog content in just one of the disc formats; thereby foregoing support of those early adopters who bought into whichever disc format falls by the way side.

I guess time would tell…
