Brazil to block YouTube

Heads Up: The video below is not Work/Family safe

A Brazilian court has ordered the closure of YouTube following the site’s failure to completely remove a video showing Ronaldo’s ex-missus and her new boyf indulging in a bit a of beach rumpy-pumpy, Reuters reports.

Daniela Cicarelli and boyfriend Tato Malzoni enjoy a dipModel Daniela Cicarelli sued YouTube after the offending film proved a smash hit among Brazilian YouTubers. She and squeeze Tato Malzoni last year “filed to force YouTube to take the video down and demanded $116,000 in damages for each day the video remains up”. Although YouTube did indeed remove some copies, other users reposted it and the whole sorry exposure dragged on for months.

Finally, Cicarelli and Malzoni filed another suit in December “requesting that YouTube be shut down as long as the video is available to users”. A Brazilian court agreed and a judicial clerk today said that it had “ordered the popular video sharing service … to be shut down until it removes a celebrity sex video from its site”.

This is likely to prove difficult to enforce, Reuters notes, since YouTube is based the US. No-one from owner Google was available to speak to the agency today.

You’d think with all the sun, thong bikinis and hot babes, people would be a little less uptight over there! You all remember the time when the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism attempted suing The Simpsons’ producers for the episode “Blame it on Lisa“? Note to Daniela: next time, to save yourself some headaches, save the “rumpy-pumpy” till you get home.. then again, maybe not :)

Hashing Update

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

Posting will be slow over the next couple of weeks; I’m swamped with work (two major projects due next week) and won’t be posting much. Meanwhile I’ll leave you with a few Haiku Windows Errors that I find quite amusing ;)
The 404 Replacement
The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.

Blue Screen of Death Perhaps
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Missing DLL?
Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

Network Down
Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.

Data Loss Part 1
Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

Data Loss Part 2
Having been erased,
The document you’re seeking
Must now be retyped.

Abort
Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Ha!This mash-up showing Google in 10 years is hitting the nail right on the head, at least for someone as messy as myself.

Back in Novermber, Yazan had a post that cracked me up (because we all relate don’t we?)

I wish Google would index my apartment, things would be much easier to find!

Dreams about to come true? :D

So you wonder where all those billions of microsoft research billions go? Look no more than this! Microsoft’s own “dance dance revolution”-like footpad for the desktop!

The lame stuff microsoft reasearch comes up with

REDMOND, Wash. — Feb. 28, 2006 — Step User Interface (Step UI), an innovative technology prototype that encourages people to control their computers using their feet in addition to their hands, is among more than 150 innovative concepts to be featured at the sixth annual Microsoft Research TechFest this Wednesday and Thursday at Microsoft Corp.’s headquarters in Redmond, Wash.

I’m not sure if those researchers/lab geeks ever get out of their labs. Dance dance revolution is a thing of the past, it was first introduced in 1998 and it takes Microsoft 8 years to build something like it and call it an innovation!

I’m still laughing! Check it out at http://research.microsoft.com/
